Hi,
one solution it would be to utilize the radio group for selecting your images.
In this case no popup will be shown as you requested.
Another alternative can be a Drop down Image List. So when you click on the field you can choose your image. No modal box anymore. Only a normal drop down field of images. If you need it as soon as possible we can do it but it would be an extra cost because it's a new feature.

You can also show the image with the Product Image Logic Addon.

I want my client to be able to choose a color or any other quality by clicking on one of the images.
I do not like the "Image list" since it only shows one and it takes you to a popup, the other option is "group list" but you have to click on the circle (it is not comfortable for the buyer).
Any improvement over?
